THE LIQUID GOLD OF MOROCCO

Argan Nut

While the world today is discovering the wonders that Moroccan Argan oil can bring, the Berber women of Morocco have enjoyed its benefits for many centuries now. It is has been used as a traditional healing, cosmetic and culinary oil for many years.

Because this oil is rare it has a higher price than the other oils that are sold in the market such as the Olive oil, Jojoba oil and a lot more. How is this Moroccan oil rare? The simple answer here is because the Argan tree that bears the fruits containing the nut seeds where the oil is extracted from grows exclusively in the southwest of Morocco. The Argan tree has been declining in number and because of this the Argan tree has been declared a World Heritage by UNESCO therefore it is a protected specie.

Breaking Down the Components of the Argan Oil

This precious oil from Morocco is enjoying a prestigious light and many people are actually attesting to the potent power of this oil. Many call it the miracle oil. But is there any truth to this? In order to understand why the oil does its wonders to the skin, hair, nails and even our health one has to get to know its components. So what do you find in the oil?

  • Vitamin E – This is a very potent antioxidant that protects the entire cells of the body from getting damaged. Because thus oil contains a high concentration of Vitamin E, cells are protected against the damaging effects of UV rays and free radicals. Vitamin E is also a potent moisturiser for the skin, hair and nails. It is also effective in minimising and preventing scars and stretch marks.

  • Unsaturated Essential Fatty Acids – Often referred to as Vitamin F, the EFAs or essential fatty acids are the good fats. They are very helpful in preventing premature skin aging. EFAs also benefit the hair. Hair pores and roots are nourished by these good fats therefore hair becomes strengthened. Essential fatty acids are greatly beneficial to our health. They benefit our cardiovascular, immune, reproductive and nervous systems.

  • Anti-inflammatories – The oil also is packed with nutrients having anti-inflammatory properties. This is the reason why the oil is effective in fighting acne breakouts. Its anti-inflammatory properties also soothe inflamed joints and aching muscles which is why the oil is used as a massage oil most especially by people with rheumatic and arthritic pain.

  • Antioxidants – Vitamin E is not the only antioxidant present in the oil. It contains other natural antioxidants such as Phenols, Carotenoids, Ferulic acid and Carotenoids.
