oroccan Argan oil has become one of the most important and expensive beauty oils in the world. It has the same

impressive qualities for hair as it does for skin. Hair loss is affecting more and more people every year. Luckily, using Argan oil for hair growth could make a very big difference in the way your hair looks and feels.

Botanical name: Argania spinosa

Color: light yellow (lemon like) to yellow.

Viscosity: medium thick and clear oil.

Scent: pretty sweet, nutty fragrance of a virgin oil (for high quality products).

The Argan oil is a very popular one in hair and skin care

It has been used by Berber people for centuries. At first, men would apply this oil on their faces and hands to protect themselves against the sun and the harshness of sand.

Then women would use it for beauty and health purposes as well. Only recently, this oil has started to be studied in a bit more depth. Nonetheless, there are still not enough studies to support all its benefits.

But can Argan oil really help with hair growth? There is no experiment done to show this effect. But, the oil has some good attributes that can help the hair get stronger and thicker. It can also protect against sun damage among others.

What are all the good things
that Argan oil can do for your hair?

  • It revitalizes the scalp and hair roots.

  • Argan can boost the cell and keratin production. The hair and nails are all made of keratin.

  • It can also help regenerate the hair follicles.

  • Through massage, the use of Argan oil can stimulate the blood flow that stimulates hair growth. This way, Argan can also prevent hair loss.

  • It is nourishing, hydrating and soothing for the scalp.

  • Because it’s high in antioxidants, the oil can combat the signs of premature hair aging. It may activate cellular and melanin regeneration.

  • Argan carrier oil can also protect against aggressive damaging factors. Those factors can be the sun, the weather, pollution, commercial hair care products, etc.

  • Its chemical composition ensures the scalp is soothed. It can calm down the itching and irritation caused by dandruff. A mixture of Argan with antibacterial essential oils can help eliminate the dandruff.

  • The oil can protect the color of the hair, be it natural or dyed.

  • Bonus! Argan oil is also great for soft or brittle nails! It can strengthen them and give them back their shininess.

As you can see, if you decide to use Argan oil for hair growth, you would have a lot more benefits. It can deal with almost all hair problems.

Eliminate Dandruff and Dry scalp

Argan oil is a great moisturizer and can be used to fight both dandruff and dry scalp as it’s extraordinarily high in vitamin E and antioxidants. The essential fatty acids in the oil are also believed to help reduce skin inflammation and prevent dryness.

Many people suffer from flakiness and dry scalp as they tend to shampoo with drying chemical agents without restoring it with moisture which it needs to stay healthy. If it’s neglected for too long, dandruff often results. And, if you have dandruff and use a medicated dandruff shampoo, not only is your body getting a hefty dose of chemical ingredients, but it will actually dry out both your scalp and hair more, adding to the problem over time.

Instead, use Argan oil on your scalp to reduce dryness and nourish your hair by warming 5 or 6 drops of the oil between your palms. Apply the warmed oil to your scalp and massage well, and then put on a shower cap and allow the oil to soak into the hair and scalp for at least a few hours, or ideally, overnight. Treating your scalp twice a week with the oil will help eliminate dandruff and dryness.

Treating hair Loss

Argan oil helps prevent hair loss by ensuring that you don’t lose more follicles than you’re able to grow – when that happens, hair loss becomes noticeable. Multiple studies on the oil’s effect on hair re-growth have found that it can stimulate the scalp due to its rich nutrient content to produce more hair. Other research has indicated that it helps hair grow faster in a shorter period of time. One particular study out of South Korea found that 44% of participants experienced “clear hair regrowth” with Argan oil treatment – as good as the drug minoxidil, but without the potentially harmful side effects.

To treat hair loss, place a few drops of the oil onto your fingertips and massage it into your scalp using a circular motion. Start at the front hairline, working your way back across your head and down each side and back. Continue the oil massage for 15 minutes to allow the oil to totally penetrate your scalp and help stimulate blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles.

By following this treatment diligently, three times a week, you’ll notice fewer and fewer hairs left in your tub, and an improvement in hair texture, thickness, and length.

Fragile and Sensitive hair

Fragile hair is usually very thin and breaks easily. It is also very sensitive to all kinds of styling methods and even to shampooing. Even so, this type of hair can also be stimulated to grow.

Using Argan oil for hair growth in the case of fragile and sensitive hair is a good choice. This oil is not very thick, so it won’t weigh down on fragile and prone to breakage strands.

It has been shown that thick films of oil absorb at a slower pace, which add to the weight of the hair. It is not the case with Argan.

Men’s hair (using Argan oil for Baldness)

Unfortunately, men more than women, suffer from hair loss. Male pattern hair loss is also known as alopecia or male baldness. A real treatment for alopecia needs to block a specific hormone called DHT.

By blocking it, male alopecia can be prevented and stopped. Nonetheless, once you stop taking the proper medications, the hair you recently grew will fall off.

Using Argan oil for alopecia (baldness) could only improve the aspect of your existing hair. It can make it look thicker and improve its strength. But sadly, it cannot block the DHT hormone.

Argan oil for Damaged and Dull Hair

One of the best uses of Argan oil for hair is to repair the damaged hair. The oil penetrates deep into the hair. That nourishes it and rearranges the cuticles to be able to hold in the moisture for a longer time.

Using Argan oil for damaged and dull hair can slowly help with hair growth as well. It can further protect the hair from weather, chlorine, heat and UV rays.

Argan oil for Split Ends

Dry, damaged hair is more likely to get split ends. When a cuticle is completely damaged, it exposes the core of the hair. That slowly leads to cracks and split ends.

Your hair needs to be stronger to avoid split ends in the future. To do that, you can apply Argan oil for split ends after each shower, sunbathing or coloration.

The benefits of using pure oils on split ends have been shown to reduce their formation. Regrettably, most butters and all mineral oils were found to have the lowest effect on split ends.

Argan oil for Oily hair

Oily hair is caused by an excess of sebum on the scalp. When the roots are oily, half of the hair’s length will also be oily. Nonetheless, oily scalp needs moisturizing and nourishing too.

Argan oil can be used for oily hair to stop and regulate the excess sebum production, without drying the scalp.

With this aspect in check, your hair will start looking less oily for a longer time. Specialists recommend washing the hair up to two times a week to avoid damaging it.

Using Argan oil as a Shampoo

Argan oil is often used as a key ingredient in shampoos due to its ability to restore softness, strength and shine to hair. It is an ideal ingredient to search for in a shampoo for anyone suffering from dry, brittle hair or hair damaged by chemicals and coloring.

The benefit of using argan oil as an ingredient in shampoo is that you can apply it just as a normal shampoo without adding an extra step in your routine or worrying about using the correct quantity of argan oil. It is the ideal method for ensuring strong, nourished hair with an improved appearance on a day-to-day basis.

Using Argan oil as a Leave-in Conditioner

Argan oil makes an excellent leave-in conditioner, which can also prolong and intensify its beneficial effects on hair. It makes an ideal conditioning agent since it makes hair soft and sleek and adds extra shine.

Many leave-in conditioners are greasy or make hair stringy or clumpy. Argan oil is the exact opposite. It makes hair easier to style and, when used in the correct quantity, absorbs easily and does not leave any greasy residue.

Pure argan oil can be used as an amazingly effective, chemical-free leave-in conditioner. All you need is a few drops of pure argan oil. Rub the oil thoroughly between your palms and then comb your hands and fingers thoroughly through damp or towel-dried hair. Make sure to massage into the scalp and tips to promote healthy scalp, encourage hair growth and to treat split ends

Using Argan oil as a Styling agent

If you need to style your hair in a hurry, argan oil is an incredible solution. As well as offering long-term improvements in softness and strength, it gives hair an immediate gloss to it, and is a great way to tame frizzy hair into submission.

Unlike many styling agents which can cause long term damage to hair due to the chemicals included in the ingredients, argan oil enriches hair with nutrients and repairs damage. It is also a great product to use before straightening as it can help protect hair against heat damage.

It is incredibly simple to use as a styling agent. Application is similar to use as a leave-in conditioner, but hair doesn’t have to be wet. Rub a few drops of argan oil between your palms and comb through dry hair, ensuring even distribution. Don’t use too much – you want it to absorb easily and a little goes a long way. It is a long-lasting styling agent which will make hair manageable and add great shine.

Using Argan oil as a hair Mask

Although a little goes a long way, an overnight treatment is a great way to maximize the effects of argan oil on hair. Using a larger quantity of argan oil as a hair mask means that as many of the nutrients as possible will be absorbed. This is a great treatment to use the night before a special event when you want your hair to be extra smooth, sleek and voluminous.

This treatment is easy to do at home. Use a liberal amount of the oil for this treatment. Massage it into your scalp, hair and tips and then wrap your hair up in a towel to prevent it from staining your pillow. Leave the treatment in overnight (or for a few hours) and then wash the argan oil out the next morning with your regular shampoo. Your hair will look sensational – and best of all, you won’t have exposed your hair to any of the chemicals present in many regular conditioning hair masks.

Argan Oil for Eyelashes

Using any vegetable, rich oil on your eyelashes can help them become stronger and more resistant to breakage. They will shine more and slowly but surely, with all the nutrients they will also start growing.

Accordingly, the use of Argan oil for eyelashes will do them a lot of good. As an inside tip, your mascara will also coat your eyelashes better and easier.

The best thing about using Argan oil for hair growth in any of the above common problems is that you can prevent the premature aging of your hair.

Pure Argan oil or
Products with Argan oil?

Argan oil can be used either on its own or as an ingredient in a shampoo, conditioner or styling agent. It is effective both ways, so it is up to the user which one to get.

Argan oil shampoos, conditioners and moisturizers: The biggest consideration of pure argan oil is the price and convenience of using it. It is a rare oil, so the price is high if you want the real deal. A product containing argan oil might be better value for the quantity and also kills two birds with one stone when it comes to looking after your hair or skin.

Pure argan oil: One of the benefits of using pure argan oil is that it is 100% natural and there is no need to use products with potentially damaging chemicals. Pure argan oil also gives more concentrated effects and a great result every time.
